Two Wareham residents took their motorcycles on the road to Boston last weekend... and returned with awards.
(Photo by: Jaime Rebhan) Roger Chouinard and Mike Painter showed off their trophies Monday inside Chouinard's Depot Street tattoo shop, Sinners and Saints.
Longtime friends Roger Chouinard and Mike Painter made the trek to the ninth annual Northeast Motorcycle Expo, held January 29 and 30 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.
Chouinard brought three bikes with him - a 2003 Harley-Davidson Sportster, a 1953 Harley-Davidson Panhead, and a 1928 Indian - and took home four trophies, including "Best in Show" for the Indian. He was participating with Sandwich-based motorcycle builder Black Frame Cycle Projects.
"It's fun," Chouinard said of the event. It was his second year participating in that particular show.
Painter, a first-time participant in the expo, took home a third place award for his 1969 Triumph Trophy, which he built himself.
Chouinard and Painter said that owning - and building - bikes is "addictive." Both own several.
"You make something nice and you want to make something else," Painter said. He joked: "I haven't made anything nice yet, so I don't know how that feels." He calls his bikes "low budget, no money choppers."
And the two aren't just garnering attention for their motorcycles at shows. Chouinard's bikes will be featured in the May or June issue of IronWorks Magazine, and Painter will be featured in a New England Biker/Boston Biker article.

  1. I stopped by your "booth" a few times hoping to meet the man behind the bike. One of my favorite bikes there. Well done.
